Newly Registered Domains Report – Feb 26, 2025

On February 26, 2025, ABTdomain recorded 228,092 newly registered domains across 1,002 TLDs (Top-Level Domains), with registrations recorded on February 24, 25, and 26, 2025. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of the distribution of popular TLDs and insights into the top-performing registrars for domain extensions like .com, .xyz, .top, .org, and .online.

1. TLD Distribution Overview

On February 26, 2025, ABTdomain analyzed 1002 TLDs and found 472 TLDs with newly registered domains, recording a total of 223,159 newly registered domains. Most of these domains were registered between February 24-26, 2025.

The .com TLD continues to dominate the domain registration market with a commanding 55.2% of all new registrations (123,154 domains). This demonstrates the enduring popularity and commercial value placed on .com domains. Following .com, the next most popular TLDs are:

  • .xyz: 11,993 domains (5.4%)
  • .top: 11,038 domains (4.9%)
  • .org: 7,794 domains (3.5%)
  • .online: 6,725 domains (3.0%)
  • .net: 6,381 domains (2.9%)
  • .store: 5,006 domains (2.2%)
  • .bond: 4,866 domains (2.2%)
  • .site: 4,186 domains (1.9%)
  • .info: 3,401 domains (1.5%)

The remaining TLDs collectively account for 17.3% (38,615 domains) of all new registrations.

2. Top 5 TLD Registrars

a) Newly Registered .com Domains

For .com domains, ABTdomain recorded 123,154 new registrations on February 25, 2025.

The registrar distribution shows:

  1. Networksolutions with 2,597 domains (2.1%)
  2. GoDaddy leads with 26,364 domains (21.4%)
  3. Namecheap follows with 12,797 domains (10.4%)
  4. Squarespace with 7,204 domains (5.8%)
  5. Hostinger with 6,847 domains (5.6%)
  6. Tucows with 4,874 domains (4.0%)
  7. Alibaba Cloud with 4,202 domains (3.4%)
  8. Gname with 4,156 domains (3.4%)
  9. Dynadot with 4,089 domains (3.3%)
  10. Wix with 3,183 domains (2.6%)

GoDaddy’s significant market share highlights its dominance in the .com TLD space, supported by extensive marketing and competitive pricing. Namecheap and Squarespace continue to cater to small businesses and individual users, offering affordable and user-friendly services. Hostinger and Tucows contribute notably, targeting niche audiences with specific domain management tools.

b) Newly Registered .xyz Domains

ABTdomain recorded 11,993 newly registered .xyz domains, with the following registrar distribution:

  1. Dynadot with 534 domains (4.5%)
  2. GMO Internet dominates with 5,039 domains (42.0%)
  3. Namecheap with 1,290 domains (10.8%)
  4. GoDaddy with 1,184 domains (9.9%)
  5. Alibaba Cloud with 1,084 domains (9.0%)

GMO Internet’s dominance in the .xyz domain space is notable, driven by its strong presence in the Asian market and aggressive promotions. Namecheap and GoDaddy maintain steady growth, leveraging their global reach and competitive pricing. Alibaba Cloud’s increasing share reflects its focus on supporting businesses in China, while Dynadot appeals to tech-savvy users seeking flexibility.

c) Newly Registered .top Domains

For the .top TLD, ABTdomain recorded 11,038 new registrations with:

  1. Namesilo leading with 2,822 domains (25.6%)
  2. Gname with 2,095 domains (19.0%)
  3. Alibaba Cloud with 1,472 domains (13.3%)
  4. godaddy.com with 1,132 domains (10.3%)
  5. GoDaddy with 710 domains (6.4%)

Namesilo’s leadership in the .top domain market showcases its appeal to users seeking affordable and simple domain registration.

d) Newly Registered .org Domains

ABTdomain recorded 7,794 newly registered .org domains with the following distribution:

  1. GoDaddy with 1,342 domains (17.2%)
  2. Namecheap with 1,134 domains (14.5%)
  3. Dynadot with 650 domains (8.3%)
  4. Squarespace with 631 domains (8.1%)
  5. Cloudflare with 532 domains (6.8%)

GoDaddy continues to lead in the .org domain space, reflecting its strong presence among non-profits and organizations.

e) Newly Registered .online Domains

For .online domains, ABTdomain recorded 6,725 new registrations with:

  1. Network Solutions with 391 domains (5.8%)
  2. GoDaddy leading with 1,090 domains (16.2%)
  3. Namecheap with 786 domains (11.7%)
  4. Reg with 698 domains (10.4%)
  5. Hostinger with 620 domains (9.2%)

Other registrars account for 46.7% (3,140 domains) of all new .online registrations.
