Domain Lifecycle Intelligence

How lifecycle tracking, domain data, and intelligence connect.

Every domain name goes through a lifecycle: registration, active use, expiration, and eventual deletion or re-registration. We track each of these stages across 1,000+ gTLDs daily, capturing not just snapshots but transitions, including when a domain moves from active to expired, enters redemption, gets deleted, or changes ownership. This continuous observation is the foundation of all our data and analysis.

Raw lifecycle data (registration counts, expiration volumes, state changes) becomes intelligence when patterns emerge across stages. For example, a surge in newly registered domains under a specific TLD, combined with rising expiration rates in that same TLD, may signal speculative activity. Our periodic reports synthesize these cross-stage patterns into market narratives that no single data point can provide.

We cover four observable stages: newly registered domains entering the market, active domains across all tracked TLDs, expired domains in their three exit paths (pending delete, auction, and redemption), and premium domain state changes monitored throughout the day. Together, these four dimensions form a complete view of the domain market.

Lifecycle data for registration, active domains, and expiration is processed daily from official registry records. Premium domain monitoring captures state changes at higher frequency throughout the day. Periodic intelligence reports synthesize data on weekly, monthly, or longer cycles depending on the analytical scope.

Domain investors tracking registration trends and expiration opportunities. Brand protection teams monitoring for typosquatting and lookalike registrations. Market analysts studying TLD growth patterns and competitive shifts. Security researchers observing bulk registration behavior. The common thread: professionals who need to understand what is happening across the domain market, not just look up individual domains.
