On April 25, 2025, ABTdomain recorded significant domain registration activity across various TLDs (Top-Level Domains). This report analyzes the distribution of newly registered domains by TLD and examines the market share of domain registrars for the top 5 TLDs.

1. Newly Registered Domains: Global Distribution Analysis

ABTdomain analyzed 994 TLDs and found 421 TLDs with newly registered domains, recording a total of 233,559 newly registered domains. Most of these domains were registered between April 23 and April 25, 2025.

The data clearly shows that .com domains continue to dominate the domain registration landscape, accounting for more than half (54.0%) of all newly registered domains. The next most popular TLD, .top, represents only 6.4% of registrations, highlighting the significant gap between .com and other TLDs. The remaining 18.7% of registrations are distributed across hundreds of other TLDs.


2. Top 5 TLDs by Volume of Newly Registered Domains

a) .com Newly Registered Domains

On April 25, 2025, ABTdomain recorded 126,123 .com newly registered domains. All these domains were registered on April 24, 2025.

GoDaddy maintains its leading position in the .com market with nearly one-fifth of all new registrations. The top three registrars (GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Tucows) together account for 42.3% of all new .com domains. Despite this concentration, there remains significant diversity in the marketplace, with “Others” representing 32.2% of registrations, indicating many smaller registrars collectively hold a substantial market share.

b) .top Newly Registered Domains

ABTdomain recorded 14,886 .top newly registered domains. All these domains were registered on April 23, 2025, as well as April 24, 2025.

The .top TLD shows a different market dynamic compared to .com, with Namesilo leading by a significant margin at 29.0%. Chinese registrars have a strong presence in this TLD, with West.cn and Alibaba Cloud holding the second and third positions respectively, collectively accounting for 30.5% of all .top registrations. This suggests that .top domains are particularly popular in the Chinese market.

c) .org Newly Registered Domains

On April 25, 2025, ABTdomain recorded 8,380 .org newly registered domains. All the domains were registered on April 25, 2025, as well as April 23, 2025 and April 24, 2025.

The .org TLD demonstrates a more balanced distribution among registrars, with Namecheap narrowly leading over GoDaddy. The combined market share of the top three registrars (Namecheap, GoDaddy, and Tucows) accounts for 45.4% of all .org registrations. Interestingly, Ionos makes its appearance in the top five for this TLD, reflecting its particular strength in the non-profit and organizational sector that typically favors .org domains.

d) .net Newly Registered Domains

ABTdomain recorded 6,921 .net newly registered domains on April 25, 2025. All these domains were registered on April 23, 2025 and April 24, 2025.

GoDaddy dominates the .net TLD with nearly a quarter of all registrations. What’s notable is the significant market fragmentation, with “Others” accounting for 47.5% of all registrations, the highest percentage across the top five TLDs. This suggests that many smaller registrars are active in the .net space. GMO Internet’s appearance in the top five highlights the global nature of .net domain registrations, as this Japanese registrar has secured a significant portion of the market.

e) .info Newly Registered Domains

On April 25, 2025, ABTdomain recorded 6,669 .info newly registered domains. All these domains were registered on April 24, 2025.

Spaceship, which doesn’t appear in the top five for other TLDs, secures fifth position here, indicating its niche strength in the .info market.
