On September 8, 2025, ABTdomain recorded significant domain registration activity across various TLDs (Top-Level Domains). This report analyzes the distribution of newly registered domains by TLD and examines the market share of domain registrars for the top 5 TLDs.

1. Newly Registered Domains: Global Distribution Analysis

ABTdomain analyzed 1,062 TLDs and found 425 TLDs with newly registered domains, recording a total of 162,808 newly registered domains on September 8, 2025. The distribution shows that .com continues to dominate the market with a substantial 52.5% share of all new registrations, accounting for 85,439 domains.

The remaining TLDs collectively represent 18.8% of new registrations, with 30,570 domains spread across hundreds of different extensions. This distribution highlights the continued dominance of traditional TLDs while showing steady adoption of newer extensions.


2. Top 5 TLDs by Volume of Newly Registered Domains

a) .com Newly Registered Domains

The .com TLD remains the overwhelming market leader with 85,439 newly registered domains. This represents more than half (52.5%) of all new domain registrations recorded on September 8, 2025.

While GoDaddy maintains its position as the leading registrar for .com domains, the competition remains strong with Namecheap and Gname securing significant market shares. It’s worth noting that “Others” account for 30.9% (26,368 domains) of all .com registrations, indicating a diverse registrar ecosystem beyond the top 10 providers.

b) .top Newly Registered Domains

The .top TLD has emerged as the second most popular extension with 11,599 newly registered domains, representing 7.1% of all new registrations on September 8, 2025.

Unlike the .com market, the .top TLD shows a different competitive landscape with West.cn leading the registrations. The top five registrars collectively control 84.6% of the market, indicating a more concentrated distribution compared to .com domains.

c) .net Newly Registered Domains

The .net TLD secured the third position with 6,531 newly registered domains, accounting for 4.0% of all new registrations on September 8, 2025.

Top 5 Registrars for .net Newly Registered Domains: Kouming leads with 22.8%, followed by GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, and Gname. Sep 8, 2025.

The .net TLD shows a unique registrar distribution with Kouming taking the lead position. However, “Others” account for a significant 43.4% (2,833 domains) of all .net registrations, suggesting a fragmented market with many smaller registrars participating in this space.

d) .org Newly Registered Domains

The .org TLD captured 4,973 newly registered domains, representing 3.1% of all new domain registrations recorded on September 8, 2025.

The .online TLD rounds out the top five with 4,605 newly registered domains, accounting for 2.8% of all new registrations on September 8, 2025.
