In this weekly analysis, we examine the distribution patterns of newly registered domains during the period of March 10-16, 2025. Based on data from ABTdomain’s WHOIS database, a total of 1,416,444 new registrations were registered across 530 different TLDs through 694 different registrars during this one-week period.

1. Newly Registered Domains TLD Distribution Analysis

The distribution of newly registered domains across different Top-Level Domains (TLDs) shows clear preferences among domain registrants.

The registrar landscape shows significant market concentration among a few major players, with GoDaddy maintaining its position as the market leader.

3. Most Popular Registrars in Top 5 TLDs

a) .com Newly Registered Domains

During the week of March 10-16, 2025, a total of 714,990 .com domains were newly registered, representing over half of all domain registrations across all TLDs.

The .com TLD registrar market shows notable concentration, with the top five registrars handling 52.1% of all new .com registrations, while other registrars collectively account for 32.2% of the market.

b) .xyz Newly Registered Domains

During the analyzed period, 90,654 .xyz domains were newly registered, making it the second most popular TLD choice among registrants.

The .xyz TLD market shows high concentration with GMO Internet capturing nearly half of all new registrations, while the top five registrars combined control 78.7% of the market.

c) .top Newly Registered Domains

A total of 79,301 .top domains were newly registered during the week, placing it as the third most popular TLD choice.

The .top TLD shows a diverse registrar distribution with strong representation from both Western and Chinese registrars. The top five registrars control 76.8% of the market, with the remaining 23.2% distributed among other registrars.

d) .org Newly Registered Domains

During the analyzed period, 48,595 .org domains were newly registered, making it the fourth most popular TLD choice.

The .org registrar market shows an interesting competition between Namecheap and GoDaddy, who control nearly identical market shares. The top five registrars account for 58.4% of all new .org registrations, while other registrars collectively handle 41.6% of the market.

e) .online Newly Registered Domains

A total of 47,838 .online domains were newly registered during the week, placing it as the fifth most popular TLD choice.

The .online TLD shows a more distributed market with no single registrar holding a dominant position. The top five registrars account for 52.7% of all new .online registrations, while other registrars collectively control 47.3% of the market.
