Domain Trading Intelligence

Top Sales This Week

Compiled from publicly reported domain sales for July 27 to August 2, 2026. Includes brokered and private transactions where a price was disclosed.

# Domain Price Platform Date
1 Source.ai $200,000 Fruits.co Jul 29
2 bbbet.com $105,000 DropCatch Jul 28
3 fills.com $95,000 Atom.com Jul 28
4 distilled.com $43,000 GoDaddy Jul 28
5 ZipChat.com $40,000 Private sale Jul 27

Source.ai at $200,000 was brokered through a partnership between Fruits.co and OpusDNS, a registrar launched in late 2025. It is among the larger .ai transactions reported this year. Bbbet.com at $105,000 is a short gambling-sector name, a category where four and five-letter combinations have supported high prices for some time. Fills.com at $95,000 is a common English verb form with broad commercial application. Distilled.com and ZipChat.com rounded out the group in the low-to-mid five figures.

Source.ai and bbbet.com are both high-value names in their respective categories and neither currently resolves to a service. Worth watching for whether a project launches on either of them. Elsewhere in the week’s transactions, some names remained on marketplace nameservers after the reported sale date and others were already pointed at hosting infrastructure. Registration data does not indicate who configured any of it or when, so these observations describe current state rather than post-sale activity.

Industry News

Tucows Restructures Debt, Shares Rise Sharply
Tucows amended its credit facility on July 27, extending maturities to 2029, and resolved preferred equity disputes at its Ting Fiber unit by cancelling Series A units through a combination of buyout, loan, and asset transfer. The company also agreed to acquire a data centre from Ting Fiber for roughly $6 million, stating that the transaction “places the data centre ownership outside of any possible outcomes of the Ting Fiber LLC strategic process.” That facility primarily supports Tucows Domains and Wavelo. Shares were up 48% intraday on July 31. Domain Name Wire

New gTLD Application Window Closes August 12
The 2026 round application submission period, open since April 30, closes on August 12 at 23:59 UTC. The window to apply for the Registry Service Provider Evaluation Program closes the same day. Evaluation fees are due by August 19. ICANN New gTLD Program

Signal: The data centre transfer is the detail worth noting for registrants rather than the share price move. Tucows is among the larger registrar groups by volume, and the company has now placed infrastructure serving its domains and platform businesses outside whatever the fibre unit’s strategic process produces. What that process leads to has not been disclosed; the company reports earnings on August 6.

Weekly Registration Overview

New domain registrations for the week of July 27 to August 2, 2026. Source: DomainKits Trends.

TLD Jul 27 – Aug 2 Daily Avg Jul 20-26 Daily Avg Change
.com 906,487 129,498 922,265 131,752 -15,778 (-1.7%)
.net 57,237 8,177 58,180 8,311 -943 (-1.6%)
.org 57,741 8,249 56,767 8,110 +974 (+1.7%)
.xyz 41,914 5,988 46,282 6,612 -4,368 (-9.4%)

.com declined 1.7% to 906K, a second consecutive weekly decline and the lowest total since late June. Weekday volumes held between 131K and 148K, with the weekend at 101-102K, so the shape of the week was unremarkable. .net moved down by a similar proportion and .org rose slightly, leaving the three legacy extensions broadly where they were. Registration activity commonly softens through the northern summer, and a decline of this size is consistent with that pattern rather than a departure from it.

.xyz fell 9.4%, a much smaller move than the collapses of the preceding two weeks, and its daily average has settled near 6,000 after peaking above 56,000 in early July. The bulk registration wave that inflated June and early July appears to have run its course.

Figures for .app and .dev are omitted this week; see Method Notes.

Emerging .com Keywords

Four-week window: Jul 6 – Aug 2, 2026. Pure-letter .com registrations only. Selection criteria, applied to the top 100 emerging terms: at least 100 registrations in the report week, and a report-week count at least 100% above the mean of the prior three weeks. The five below are the largest by report-week volume among terms meeting both, after excluding entries built on the trademarks of identifiable companies.

“On Hosting NS” indicates that the domain delegates DNS to a nameserver classified as a hosting or CDN provider rather than a registrar default or marketplace listing. It does not by itself confirm an active website, and it does not capture mail, forwarding, or other DNS records. Source: DomainKits Trends.

Registration-level inspection of the notable patterns:

Signal: Four of the five arrived through a single registrar on a single day. Where they diverge is nameserver placement, and that divergence does not indicate what any of these sets will become.

Registration data reflects observed patterns in newly registered domain names and does not constitute investment advice. Individual registrant intent cannot be confirmed from registration data alone.

Notable Expirations

Status verified against registry records at publication date. Names renewed or recovered since detection have been removed. All five below are held on renewal-or-deletion nameservers, a stage that still permits the registrant to renew; none has reached redemption or pending-delete.

Domain Length Original Creation Year Registrar Status at Publication Detected
oid.com 3L 1994 Network Solutions Pending renewal or deletion Aug 2
crmi.com 4L 1995 Network Solutions Pending renewal or deletion Jul 30
npps.com 4L 1995 Network Solutions Pending renewal or deletion Jul 29
cvep.com 4L 1997 Network Solutions Pending renewal or deletion Jul 27
intoknow.com 8L 1999 Network Solutions Pending renewal or deletion Aug 2

New Registrations / Drop-Catches

Domain Original Creation Year Caught By Date
penvision.com 1995 DropCatch Jul 28
hardclick.com 1998 Gname Jul 30
dietvideo.com 1999 Gname Jul 29
galeta.com 2000 DropCatch Jul 29
carjob.com 2002 Gname Jul 29

Signal: oid.com was created on August 1, 1994 and moved to renewal-or-deletion nameservers almost exactly 32 years later. It remains renewable at this stage and has not entered redemption. Two three-letter .com names appeared in this week’s expiration data; the other was renewed before publication and is not listed here. On the acquisition side, penvision.com, hardclick.com, and carjob.com were each delegated to a resale marketplace nameserver within days of being caught. These represent a fraction of what moves each week; DomainKits Changes Monitor tracks premium domain status changes as they happen.

Weekly Insight

Registration volume alone did not distinguish this week’s batch activity. Four of the five emerging entries arrived through a single registrar on a single day with a formulaic naming pattern, and a count taken at registration would place them in the same category. The more useful discriminator was observed post-registration infrastructure placement: three quarters of one set delegate to hosting providers, against under 5% for two others of comparable size. That difference appears within days of registration and is visible before anything else about these names is. DomainKits Trends
