This week in domain intelligence:
- A batch disclosure of thirty aftermarket sales in one extension accounted for most of the week’s reported high-value transactions.
- Registration volume rose across every major extension tracked.
- One extension returned to bulk-scale volumes after four weeks near its baseline.
- Seven separately ranked keywords appear to trace to a coordinated registration campaign covering roughly 3,500 names.

Top Sales Reported This Week
Compiled from domain sales publicly reported from August 3 to August 9, 2026. Includes brokered and private transactions where a price was disclosed.
| # | Domain | Price | Platform | Reported Date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | perform.ai | $200,000 | Spaceship | Aug 6 |
| 2 | kingdom.ai | $130,000 | Spaceship | Aug 6 |
| 3 | Betto.com | $128,250 | Atom.com | Aug 5 |
| 4 | unstoppable.ai | $100,000 | Spaceship | Aug 6 |
| 5 | quake.ai | $100,000 | Spaceship | Aug 6 |
Four of the five entries above come from a single disclosure. On August 6, Namecheap founder Richard Kirkendall published a set of thirty .ai sales completed through the Spaceship Sellerhub platform. These were not thirty transactions closing on one day; they were an accumulated group released together, and their appearance in a single day’s reporting reflects when the seller chose to publish rather than when the market moved. Prices in the disclosed set ran from $40,000 to $200,000. Domain Name Wire
Of the thirty names in that group, eleven currently do not resolve to any service. The remainder point to a mix of live products, company sites, and marketplace landers. Betto.com at $128,250 on Atom.com was the week’s highest .com sale and the only entry in the top five outside the .ai group.

New gTLD Application Window Closes August 12
The 2026 round application submission period, open since April 30, closes on August 12 at 23:59 UTC, with evaluation fees due by August 19. Submitted applications are expected to be disclosed on Reveal Day around October, subject to administrative processing; that disclosure covers the applied-for strings and applicant details rather than evaluation outcomes. ICANN The round accepts applications in 27 scripts, covering Arabic, Chinese, Devanagari, Thai and others, a substantial expansion of internationalized top-level domain eligibility over the 2012 round. Batch Disclosure Reshapes a Week of Reported Sales
The thirty-name batch contributed $2.293 million, approximately 82.5% of the $2.780 million in sales recorded for that reporting date. It distorted reported value far more than transaction count, and the concentration came from one seller’s disclosure schedule rather than from market conditions on that date. Domain Name Wire
Signal: The August 12 deadline is the item with lasting consequence. Applications filed this week determine which strings enter evaluation, and the 27-script provision means a meaningful share of the round may be in non-Latin text. The full field of applied-for strings stays private until Reveal Day; evaluation outcomes come later still.

| TLD | Aug 3-9 Total | Daily Avg | Jul 27 – Aug 2 Total | Daily Avg | Daily Avg Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| .com | 931,229 | 133,033 | 906,856 | 129,551 | +3,482 |
| .net | 63,310 | 9,044 | 57,274 | 8,182 | +862 |
| .org | 60,827 | 8,690 | 57,754 | 8,251 | +439 |
| .app | 28,058 | 4,008 | 24,832 | 3,547 | +461 |
| .xyz | 386,165 | 55,166 | 42,040 | 6,006 | +49,160 |
Every extension in the table rose. .com added roughly 3,500 registrations per day to reach 931K for the week, recovering the ground lost over the previous two weeks, with weekday counts between 139K and 152K. .net gained about 860 per day and .org about 440. .app returned to the table after being omitted last week for an incomplete series, now backfilled, adding around 460 per day.
.xyz moved from 9,963 registrations on August 3 to 72,542 on August 4 and held between 54,000 and 80,000 for the remainder of the week. Last week’s report noted that the bulk registration wave which inflated June and early July appeared to have run its course; that judgement did not hold. Daily volumes at this level have now resumed and continued past the end of the report week, with August 10 recording 63,068.
Hot Keywords: Industry Snapshot
Four-week window: Jul 13 – Aug 9, 2026. Pure-letter .com registrations only. Selection: of the twenty highest-volume keywords over the window, the two largest weekly gainers and the three largest decliners. Source: DomainKits Trends.
| Keyword | Jul 13-19 | Jul 20-26 | Jul 27 – Aug 2 | Aug 3-9 | W-o-W |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| media | 2,699 | 2,615 | 2,387 | 2,612 | +9.4% |
| hub | 3,500 | 3,631 | 3,490 | 3,733 | +7.0% |
| ai | 6,562 | 6,485 | 6,239 | 5,934 | -4.9% |
| llc | 4,735 | 5,241 | 4,790 | 4,543 | -5.2% |
| services | 4,195 | 4,046 | 4,617 | 3,649 | -21.0% |
- “Services” reversed last week’s 14.1% gain with a 21.0% decline, the largest move in either direction among the twenty highest-volume keywords, ending the four-week window below where it began.
- “AI” declined in each of the three week-over-week comparisons shown, the only term among the twenty largest to fall at every step. The filtered pure-letter .com dataset these counts come from was flat across the window and rose in the report week, so the decline holds as a share too: within that dataset “ai” fell from 90.6 to 81.8 registrations per ten thousand. See Watchlist.
Emerging .com Keywords
Four-week window: Jul 13 – Aug 9, 2026. Pure-letter .com registrations only. Selection criteria: at least 100 registrations in the report week and a report-week count at least 100% above the mean of the prior three weeks. The five below are the largest by report-week volume among terms meeting both, counting one representative term where several belong to the same registration group, and excluding entries built on the trademarks of identifiable companies. | Keyword | Prior 3-Week Avg | Report Week | vs. Avg | Peak Day Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| talent | 465 | 1,127 | +143% | 65% |
| pop | 345 | 909 | +164% | 73% |
| llp | 101 | 722 | +612% | 86% |
| tourism | 80 | 228 | +186% | 43% |
| terac | 38 | 168 | +338% | 40% |
Registration-level inspection of the notable patterns:
- “LLP” stands in for a group of fund-structure and wealth-management abbreviations that also includes “lp”, “gp” and “fo”, covered in the Weekly Insight below.
- “Talent”: 1,127 registrations with 65% landing on one day. Nameserver placement is spread across many providers rather than concentrated, and the naming is less uniform than the entity-abbreviation group, with recruitment and representation vocabulary in varied constructions.
- “Terac”: 168 registrations over three days, pairing an invented string with advisory and data vocabulary in a fixed construction. Volume is modest, but the naming is as formulaic as anything in this week’s set.
- “Tourism” is the least uniform entry here, spread across the week with destination names, medical travel terms and guide-style constructions, which is closer to ordinary registration activity than to a single batch.
Signal: The entity-abbreviation group is the clearest programmatic pattern this week, running above 85% on its peak day across each of the terms it covers. At the other end, “tourism” at 43% looks like ordinary activity that happened to clear the threshold. What any of these names are for is not determinable from registration data.
Registration data reflects observed patterns in newly registered domain names and does not constitute investment advice. Individual registrant intent cannot be confirmed from registration data alone.

Notable Expirations
Status verified against registry records at publication date. Names renewed or recovered since detection have been removed.
| Domain | Length | Original Creation Year | Registrar | Status at Publication | Detected |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| cils.com | 4L | 1995 | Network Solutions | Pending renewal or deletion | Aug 8 |
| gameone.com | 7L | 1997 | Network Solutions | Pending renewal or deletion | Aug 4 |
| gosee.com | 5L | 1997 | PublicDomainRegistry | Expired, on parking nameservers | Aug 3 |
| datalist.com | 8L | 1997 | TurnCommerce | Expired, on expiry nameservers | Aug 9 |
| bitcube.com | 7L | 1998 | Network Solutions | Pending renewal or deletion | Aug 8 |
New Registrations / Drop-Catches
| Domain | Original Creation Year | Caught By | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| unionvita.com | 2000 | DropCatch | Aug 6 |
| sidelink.com | 2002 | DomainLocal | Aug 3 |
| emailwow.com | 2002 | Gname | Aug 3 |
| lateride.com | 2002 | PortlandNames | Aug 8 |
| firevote.com | 2004 | Gname | Aug 6 |
Signal: Several multi-decade .com names entered renewal or deletion workflows this week. Of the names listed a week ago, oid.com and crmi.com remain unchanged, illustrating that this stage can persist for weeks rather than days. Among the catches, sidelink.com and firevote.com were delegated to resale marketplace nameservers within days, while lateride.com and unionvita.com remain on interim or registrar nameservers. These represent a fraction of what moves each week; DomainKits Changes Monitor tracks premium domain status changes as they happen.
Weekly Insight
Seven separate terms rose sharply this week, and the evidence suggests that they belong to one coordinated registration campaign. Four are fund-structure and wealth-management abbreviations, “llp” at 722, “lp” at 677, “gp” at 589 and “fo” at 567, together 2,555 registrations against a prior-three-week average near 320. Three more are the word roots those names are built from, “sovereign” at 363, “acquisition” at 279 and “principal” at 270, adding a further 912. Read individually, a keyword table shows seven independent trends. What links them is that the abbreviations draw on one shared vocabulary of wealth-management roots, used interchangeably as prefix or suffix, that each term’s registrations land on a single day, and that they share a small set of nameservers, spread across four dates between August 3 and August 7.
That linkage matters because volume alone would have ranked these as seven signals worth watching, when the more likely reading is a single campaign of roughly 3,500 names, still running after the report week closed. The evidence supports coordination rather than common ownership: shared nameservers are consistent with one registrant but do not establish it, since public nameservers carry many unrelated parties. Whether the names serve fund administration, lead capture, or resale is not determinable from registration data. DomainKits NRDS
Watchlist
“AI” declined at every step of the four-week window, from 6,562 to 5,934, and fell as a share of the filtered pure-letter .com dataset as well, while “agent” rose from 867 to 1,010 and “agents” from 219 to 315. It is not a clean handoff: “agentic” fell from 245 to 153 over the same period, and the bare term still runs six times the volume of the nearest alternative. Four weeks settles nothing. Carried forward for the next several reports rather than treated as a finding. DomainKits Trends
Method Notes
- Sales figures are a sample, not a census. Millions of domains sit on the market at any time and the transactions reported publicly each week are a small fraction of them. This week illustrates a further complication: a single seller’s decision to publish thirty accumulated sales at once can dominate a week’s reported totals without reflecting any change in market activity. Individual sales are worth examining; weekly aggregates are not a basis for conclusions about direction.
- Keyword figures were calculated from seven complete daily input files and then processed through segmentation and filtering. They represent the filtered pure-letter .com dataset rather than every registration. The recalculation followed a gap in one day’s collection that would otherwise have understated the report week by roughly a tenth.
- The prior-week .app series was subsequently backfilled, which is why a comparison figure appears this week for an extension omitted from last week’s table.
