This week in domain intelligence:
- The surge in one alternative extension through a single registrar, which had run for weeks, was over by the week’s start apart from one last pulse.
- Last issue’s investment-firm template fell back, and the largest keyword moves are now local-service templates built town by town in a few batches.
- A Saturday batch of liquor-store names, delegated to marketplace nameservers on arrival, filled the rest of the emerging table.
- A short dictionary word led the week’s reported sales by a wide margin; its registry record moved on the day the sale was announced.
- The largest registrar reported its quarter, and one of the larger US registrars was put up for auction with no reserve.

The .xyz surge through Onamae.com ended. The registrar, which carried 503,236 of the previous week’s .xyz records, registered 9,980 on October 27 in one last pulse and was absent from the five largest .xyz registrars on the other six days; Afternic’s nameservers, which held most of the surge, received 9,991 .xyz names on October 27 and fewer than 30 on each other day. The week’s .xyz daily counts ran 4,274 to 8,361 apart from Tuesday’s 17,081. .com held 163,725 to 173,228 a day from Monday to Friday and fell to 122,592 and 105,302 at the weekend.
Hot Keywords
Weekly counts from October 5 to November 1, 2026. Pure-letter .com registrations only. Among the twenty highest-volume keywords, the table shows the two largest weekly gainers and three largest decliners by percentage. Source: DomainKits Trends.
| Keyword | Oct 5-11 | Oct 12-18 | Oct 19-25 | Oct 26-Nov 1 | W-o-W |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| my | 7,081 | 7,125 | 6,955 | 7,389 | +6.2% |
| tech | 4,857 | 4,686 | 4,633 | 4,918 | +6.2% |
| capital | 1,899 | 2,998 | 4,996 | 1,885 | -62.3% |
| group | 6,240 | 6,618 | 7,261 | 6,500 | -10.5% |
| digital | 2,905 | 2,843 | 3,159 | 2,916 | -7.7% |
“capital” fell back to its level of early October as the investment-firm template of the last two issues fell back (see the follow-up below). “group” and “digital” gave back the previous week’s rise; “my” and “tech” ended above each of the three earlier weeks shown.
Emerging .com Keywords
The table lists the five largest emerging keywords. Each had at least 100 registrations this week and a count at least double its average for the previous three weeks. Pure-letter .com registrations only, deduplicated by domain; “door” is folded into “garage” and “sweep” into “chimney” because most of their names are shared. Source: DomainKits NRDS.
| Keyword | Prior 3-week avg | Report week | vs. avg | Peak day share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| garage | 782 | 1,823 | +133% | 41% |
| chimney | 184 | 577 | +214% | 62% |
| spirits | 55 | 399 | +625% | 83% |
| liquors | 20 | 383 | +1,815% | 97% |
| liquor | 43 | 380 | +784% | 85% |
Local-service templates
“garage” is a town-by-town garage-door template: 1,396 of the week’s 1,791 “door” names also carry “garage”. Of the 1,823 names, 844 were registered through Name.com on a hosting provider’s shared nameservers, 365 on October 27 and 468 on October 28 (garagedoormatteson, garagedoorstanleync, tucsonazgaragedoorrepair), and 298 through NameSilo on one Cloudflare pair on October 27 (garagedoorrepairavonoh, garagedoorrepairmonroect, garagedoorrepairburbankca), US towns in both sets.
That NameSilo pair also holds 407 of the 577 “chimney” names and 349 of the 450 “sweep” names, built as chimney sweep plus a town and state code: 65 Massachusetts and Rhode Island towns on October 26 (chimneysweeppembrokema, chimneysweeplincolnri), then 342 on October 27 spread across the country, most often in California, Ohio, Florida and Connecticut (chimneysweepbrookparkoh, chimneysweeppompanobeachfl, chimneysweeporangect). A Cloudflare pair maps to one account, so the chimney and garage sets at NameSilo fall under one account; the shared hosting nameservers under the Name.com set identify no account.
A Saturday batch of shop names
“spirits”, “liquors” and “liquor” arrived in one block on October 31: 327, 369 and 319 names registered through GoDaddy and delegated on arrival to a marketplace’s nameservers, built as shop names with a place or owner word (omegaliquors, dorrsliquors, birchlakespirits, canyonmeadowsliquor). The same block carried 179 “coffees” names (deathwishcoffees, slatemilkcoffees), below the table’s cut.
Event check
The week’s largest outside event left a small mark. After funds were drained from Binance’s wallets on October 29 (TechCrunch, October 29), “binance” appeared in 35 pure-letter .com names against 18 the week before, 24 of them on October 30, and 19 of those sit on one Cloudflare pair and read as claims-trading names (buybinanceclaims, binancecreditorcommittee, binancebankrupt). Two smaller events barely registered: after Google’s Gemini 4 Carbon announcement and the Brewers’ World Series title, both on October 28, “gemini” rose to 55 names from 39, mostly unrelated to the model (geminicigars, geminiroses), and “brewers” to 23 from 13 (brewersworldserieschampion). Last issue’s event faded: “php” fell to 41 names from 105, and three names contained php2shell against 52.
Follow-up from last week
The investment-firm template fell back: “capital” to 1,885 names from 4,996, “equity” to 174 from 1,888 and “acquisition” to 55 from 491, and Dynadot, which registered 7,244 names with one of the template’s seventeen suffixes the week before, registered 266. The separate merchant-funding set thinned as well: “funding” fell to 414 from 1,197, INWX to 1 name from 446 and Porkbun to 61 from 257. The Porkbun debt and lien set returned on Monday: “debt” rose to 722 from 638 and “lien” to 532 from 354, with 274 and 295 of them on October 26 on the registrar’s default nameservers. “artie” fell to 131 from 655, and the same Cloudflare pair carried a new word, “wiley”, with 147 of its 163 names.

Domain Trading Intelligence
Selected Sales
The five highest-priced sales publicly reported during October 26 to November 1 with a named platform and a registry record consistent with the report. Dates are the sale dates given in the daily reports; a sale from a platform’s weekly batch list is dated by the registry record change inside the week, consistent with the transfer to the buyer.
| Domain | Price | Platform | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| tick.com | $600,000 | Sedo | Oct 27 |
| honey.ai | $150,000 | Atom | Oct 28 |
| life.si | $55,650 | Fruits.co | Oct 30 |
| 88838.com | $53,000 | GoDaddy | Oct 27 |
| hindsight.ai | $52,490 | Atom | Oct 27 |
tick.com, created in 1995, was announced by its Sedo broker the day its registry record changed (DomainGang, October 28), which places the handover inside the week. compute.xyz at $80,000 through Spaceship and orbinite.com at $37,000 through DropCatch are not ranked because their registry records last changed before the week; 8225.com at $33,500 through GoDaddy sits one place below the table. honey.ai was created in 2017 and life.si in June 2026; none of the three buyers has been publicly disclosed.
Industry News
GoDaddy reports its third quarter. GoDaddy said on October 29 that revenue was $1,341.8 million against $1,265.3 million a year earlier, bookings $1,431.7 million against $1,354.5 million, and that it ended the quarter with 20.5 million customers (GoDaddy release). On the call the company attributed the quarter’s domain aftermarket result to large transactions (Domain Name Wire, October 29).
A US registrar goes to auction with no reserve. Applicant Auction is selling the assets of an unnamed US registrar with about one million domains under management and several ICANN accreditations; bidder registration closes November 6 and bidding runs on November 16 and 17 (Applicant Auction; Domain Name Wire, October 30). The registrar’s identity is disclosed to bidders under a non-disclosure agreement.
Premium Domain Intelligence
Selected .com expirations and drop-catches detected from October 26 to November 1 by DomainKits Changes Monitor.
Notable Expirations
The oldest domains, by original creation date, among this week’s five- to ten-letter expirations still using expiry-hold nameservers on November 3. A .com expiration date automatically advances by a year at the registry, so the date alone does not confirm renewal.
| Domain | Length | Original creation year | Registrar | Detected |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| switchview.com | 10L | 1992 | GoDaddy | Oct 28 |
| easylearn.com | 9L | 1996 | Network Solutions | Nov 1 |
| golfagent.com | 9L | 1996 | Sea Wasp | Nov 1 |
| netmachine.com | 10L | 1997 | GoDaddy | Oct 30 |
| softclock.com | 9L | 1997 | GoDaddy | Oct 30 |
The five remain on their registrars’ expiry-hold nameservers. None has redemption or pending-delete status at the registry, and registrants can typically still renew at this stage.
Notable Drop-Catches
The oldest domains, by original creation date, among the five- to ten-letter .com names caught by backorder this week.
| Domain | Original creation year | Caught by | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| gasselect.com | 1996 | DropCatch | Oct 27 |
| kimona.com | 1999 | DropCatch | Oct 26 |
| whynote.com | 1999 | DropCatch | Nov 1 |
kimona.com was reported sold at DropCatch for $1,205 on October 29; the other two have no reported price.
Names Followed From Earlier Issues
- matchworld.com. The nameservers left the registrar’s expiry set for Afternic’s on November 2 with the registrar unchanged and the status active: renewed and listed.
Weekly Insight
This week’s spikes are templates, not reactions: a few batches of town-by-town service names and one Saturday batch of shop names delegated to marketplace nameservers, while the week’s outside events, a large theft from a crypto exchange, a model release and a World Series, left a few dozen names between them. The record’s largest move was an absence: the .xyz surge that ran for weeks through one registrar was over by the week’s start. Search the week’s names in DomainKits NRDS.
