Weekly Registration Overview

TLD Oct 12-18 total Daily avg Oct 5-11 total Daily avg Daily avg change
.com 1,051,842 150,263 1,030,803 147,258 +3,005
.org 60,304 8,615 59,527 8,504 +111
.net 55,087 7,870 52,842 7,549 +321

.xyz 591,933 84,562 468,742 66,963 +17,599

The .xyz gain again traces to one registrar: names registered through Onamae.com rose from 424,311 to 552,966 week over week, and 546,553 of them delegate DNS to Afternic’s nameservers (546,709 across registrars). Onamae’s daily count ran between 55,042 and 64,936 from Monday to Wednesday, reached 159,857 on Thursday and 170,763 on Friday, then fell to 40,729 on Saturday and 4,484 on Sunday. A sample of Friday’s names joins two dictionary words (sponsorinvest, thousandstyle, turninghealth, virtuallovers), each on a one-year term. No cause has been found in public sources.

Hot Keywords

September 21 to October 18, 2026. Pure-letter .com registrations only. Of the twenty highest-volume keywords, the two largest weekly gainers and the three largest decliners by percentage. Source: DomainKits Trends.

Keyword Sep 21-27 Sep 28-Oct 4 Oct 5-11 Oct 12-18 W-o-W
shop 4,899 4,872 4,949 5,401 +9.1%
try 2,642 2,835 3,124 3,374 +8.0%
labs 2,502 2,569 2,878 2,666 -7.4%
hub 3,541 3,473 3,812 3,608 -5.4%
media 2,649 2,752 2,788 2,684 -3.7%

try, a gainer in last issue’s table, rose in each of the three week-over-week comparisons shown. labs and hub give back part of the prior week’s rise and end above their late-September level.

Emerging .com Keywords

The five largest emerging keywords this week are debt, equity, lien, aon and instantly. Emerging means at least 100 registrations in the report week and at least twice the mean of the prior three weeks; a keyword that shares most of its names with a higher one is folded into it. Pure-letter .com registrations only, deduplicated by domain. Source: DomainKits NRDS.

Keyword Prior 3-week avg Report week vs. avg Peak day share
debt 212 931 +339% 34%
equity 223 673 +202% 32%
lien 42 629 +1,398% 26%
aon 40 409 +923% 98%
instantly 24 174 +625% 69%

debt and lien are one campaign, with resolve folded into them. From October 13 to 16, 1,365 names carrying debt, lien or resolve were registered through Porkbun on the registrar’s default nameservers, out of 1,610 such names in the week, built on resolution terms such as settle, clear, resolve, solve, fix or free, 639 of them carrying business or biz (bizdebtsettlehelp, lienresolutionhub, uccliensolvers).

Templates also drove the remaining three entries. equity paired nature or place words with finance suffixes (swiftbridgeequitygroup, bearstonemergers) at Dynadot and Spaceship over three days, lifting mergers and acquisitions alongside it; aon came from a single-day run at one registrar with no public catalyst found; and instantly reused last issue’s coverage setup, one registrar delegating across Cloudflare pairs, with a new word (joininstantlyprospects).

Below the top five, Tesla showed its next Roadster in Texas on October 15 (Reuters via bdnews24; Oneindia), and roadster reached 153 pure-letter .com names on the table’s word basis against the threshold of 100, with 377 names containing the word across the generic extensions in the dataset, spread across registrars with no large batch visible.

Last issue’s batches fell back sharply: coverage to 118 names from 2,771 with no large batch visible, listingsong to two names on one day. The Indonesian gambling words slot, togel, judi and gacor fell to 923, 357, 246 and 189 from 1,964, 809, 729 and 645, and the event keywords plague, spacexsi and superintelligence to 4 pure-letter .com names from 82, 6 from 36 and 205 from 684.

Registration data reflects observed patterns in newly registered domain names and does not constitute investment advice. Individual registrant intent cannot be confirmed from registration data alone.

Domain Trading Intelligence

Selected Sales

The five highest-priced sales publicly reported for October 12 to 18 with a named platform; Method Notes give the corroboration for each row. Dates are the dates the sales were reported; for names from a marketplace’s batch post, that is the date of the post.

Domain Price Platform Reported date
tradingcards.com $2,000,000 Afternic Oct 15
nor.com $700,000 Atom Oct 15
wellness.net $146,000 GoDaddy Oct 18
jiudian.com $77,000 DropCatch Oct 15
vyra.com $50,500 Namecheap Oct 17

No row comes from a marketplace batch post; Sedo’s weekly list, published October 13, topped out at $25,000 (pempo.com and stocks.si), below the fifth row.

tradingcards.com had been listed on Afternic at $2.5 million; an Afternic representative confirmed the sale to a trade publication, and the buyer has not been publicly disclosed. nor.com’s price was announced by Atom’s director of sales. In the remaining reported transactions, wellness.net (registered in 1996) sold through GoDaddy, jiudian.com (pinyin for hotel) was caught and auctioned at DropCatch, and vyra.com (created in 1999) sold at Namecheap.

Industry News

Registrars ask auDA to reverse an allocation change. Ten .au registrars, with Tucows as contact, asked the auDA board to reverse its in-principle acceptance of a recommendation to remove one allocation route for .com.au and .net.au names, the match to a registrant’s service, good, event, activity or premises; their letter estimates that 1.7 to 2.8 million of nearly 3.5 million existing names would not meet the remaining tests (letter; Domain Name Wire, October 15). auDA said on October 19 that it will consult publicly this year, that no final decision has been made and that existing licences would stay under the current rules (auDA statement).

Root key rollover completed. ICANN said on October 15 that the root zone key signing key rollover was completed on October 11 as planned, that it is assessing reports of problems on a limited number of systems, and that revocation of the previous key is scheduled for January 2027. Premium Domain Intelligence

Selected .com expirations and drop-catches detected from October 12 to 18 by DomainKits Changes Monitor.

Notable Expirations

The five oldest by original creation among the week’s five- to ten-letter expirations still on expiry-hold nameservers at a registry check on October 20. The registry advances a .com expiration date by a year automatically, so that date alone does not mean a renewal.

Domain Length Original creation year Registrar Detected
artgirls.com 8L 1997 NameBright Oct 16
matchworld.com 10L 1998 HiChina Oct 12
dogfolk.com 7L 1998 Annulet Oct 15
divana.com 6L 1998 Network Solutions Oct 16
woodguy.com 7L 1998 Network Solutions Oct 16

Outside the table’s length rule, the three-letter neq.com (1996) moved to Network Solutions’ renewal-or-deletion nameservers on October 15; at that stage the name is still renewable by the registrant.

Notable Drop-Catches

The five oldest by original creation among the five- to ten-letter names re-registered during the week.

intoknow.com 1999 Domain Science Oct 17
sicama.com 2000 Gname Oct 14

Weekly Insight

Each of the five rows in this week’s emerging table traces to a naming template registered in blocks: on one registrar’s default nameservers, in a single-day run, or across a set of Cloudflare pairs. Because raw keyword totals count bulk campaigns and individual registrants alike, separating a registration campaign from broader demand requires looking at the domain strings and nameservers underneath. Search the week’s names in DomainKits NRDS.
